The design of anchor bolt and base plate is very important as it is the interface between the steel structure and the reinforced concrete foundations. So, the designer should be familiar with both. The course presents the way of using ACI 318 and ASCE for petrochemical facilities to design the anchor bolt and the base plate. The calculation of anchor bolt forces and the stresses on the base plate will be presented in this course. The anchor bolt materials will be discussed also on this course.
The design of anchor bolt and base plate as per to the up-to-date methods are illustrated in this course in detail. There are many ways to design the base plate from stress analysis and to use a finite element the easy way is to use the stress analysis will be discussed as it is most traditional for fixed end connection and hinged connection as will. The way of doing the design by using Hilti profis software will be presented as it used FE method for base plate. In addition to an excel sheet based on process industrial practice. The attendees will receive this excel sheet at the end of the course. All types of the anchor bolts and its materials properties with practical experience will be illustrated.
